General George Armstrong Custer, a graduate of West Point, greatly distinguished himself under General Sheridan during the Civil War. After the war he served in the western United States fighting Indians.
He met his demise at the hands of the legendary Sioux Chief, Sitting Bull, at the battle of Little Bighorn in 1876.
