High school days
1992 Bowman Manny Ramirez.
Manny Ramirez’s high school years at George Washington High School in New York City were pure dominance and already felt bigger than the level he was playing at. Growing up in Washington Heights, he turned the city’s toughest competition into a showcase, especially during his senior year when he hit around .650 with 14 home runs, eye-popping numbers for a New York City season. He drove in runs at will, struck fear into pitchers, and made opposing teams pitch around him whenever they could. Manny led George Washington to a PSAL city championship, and by then scouts packed the stands knowing they were watching the best high school hitter in the country. Those years made it obvious he wasn’t just a local star, he was a future major league force waiting to happen.
