Al Widmar was the Jays pitching coach from 1980-1989, and a member of the team's front office for the 1992 & 1993 World Series championships.

He is also remembered for threatening to sue Major League Baseball in 1950 on the grounds that the reserve clause was illegal. But Widmar agreed to drop the matter when commissioner Happy Chandler intervened and instructed the St. Louis Browns to give him a raise.
