One of the many reasons baseball is the greatest game ever invented is because it runs at its own pace and does not end until the last out is recorded. There is no "game clock".
Of course ties can still happen.
If a game is suspended it's made up the next time it can fit into the schedule. But sometimes the suspended game is late in the year and both teams are busy and it won't change the standings, so they just call it a tie.
