Rare original factory press photographs for the Amphicar. The Amphicar was a unique amphibious automobile produced in West Germany from 1961 to 1968. It could operate both on land and in water, powered by a rear-mounted Triumph engine driving the rear wheels and twin propellers. With a top speed of about 70 mph on road and 7 mph on water, it was marketed as “the car that swims.” Fewer than 4,000 were built, making it a rare and collectible novelty today.

I had a short ride in one some years back and it was as unique and memorable an experience as you would imagine.
