Very seldom will you hear the word "scarce" associated with a card produced at the height of the overproduction era. This card is a unicorn.
This Knoblauch is part of a very small run (3,000 copies), which was unusual at the time when most cards were mass-produced in the millions — one of the few “chase cards” in a sea of otherwise mass-produced cardboard.
This card has a niche but loyal collector base because it’s considered one of the first mainstream certified autograph cards along with 1990 UD Reggie Jackson #/2500, 1991 UD Nolan Ryan #/2500, and 1990 Score Frank Thomas #/3000.
I've been trying to get one of these for a few years now and always seem to miss out. Not today, however, I'm delighted.
