It's cliche but the best part about the hobby is the people you get to meet while collecting pieces of cardboard.
In my case, I also get to talk to a lot of great guests on my podcast Cards To The Moon...and it's not uncommon now to meet up in person at big card shows and carry on whatever conversation we started about cards.
