1968 Topps, 1967 World Series Insert Set ⭐ World Champion Cards
I'm not a Red Sox nor Cards fan, per se, and I'm not particularly fond of the 1968 Topps baseball card design, but I love these World Series insert cards.
Impossible Dreamers vs Red Birds
The Red Sox finished 9th in 1966 and were picked by many repeat that in 1967.
Instead, behind Triple Crown winner Carl Yastrzemski and Cy Young winner Jim Lonborg, they won a dramatic four-team pennant race on the final day of the season and pushed the powerful Cardinals to a seventh game.
Game 7 featured the two Cy Young-caliber aces of the series: Gibson (2-0) vs Lonborg (2-0). It was only the second time in World Series history that two pitchers with 2-0 records in the same Series met in Game 7. Gibson won the showdown with a three-hit complete game.
