1952 Mother's Cookies, #37, PCL ⭐ Roy Welmaker - Negro League Great

Roy Welmaker was a star left-handed professional baseball pitcher who starred in the Negro leagues between 1932 and 1948, playing for the Homestead Grays and Philadelphia Stars.
He led the Negro National League in ERA in 1937, topped the league in wins in 1945, and helped guide the Grays to a Negro World Series championship in 1944.
Welmaker also showcased his talents internationally, winning the prestigious Pitching Triple Crown during the inaugural 1946 Venezuelan Professional Baseball League season by leading in wins, strikeouts, and ERA.
Because full MLB integration happened so late in his career, he didn't get signed by an MLB organization until 1949, when he was already 35 years old.
His journey through integrated affiliated baseball included several notable stops including a stint in the Pacific Coast League with the Hollywood Stars.
