1774-1776 Monarchs of Europe

Museum Quality “Monarchs of Europe" and printed by Rowley & Co, (c.1774-1776), of London, this set of cards are the first known non standard playing cards designed and produced within the United Kingdom. Copper-Plate Engraved, Half length courts within oval frames, representing reigning king and queens, with court body-guards as Jacks. The suit signs are a red chalice, a black pike head, an orange topaz and a green clover leaf.
