He signed Up the Day After Pearl Harbor & won the Bronze Star & Purple Heart. Was in several major campaigns in Europe & Africa. My brother Steven, my other great hero, has the actual medals. My Dad stayed after receiving medical treatment & was in combat for the duration of the war.
