Tim Foli, nicknamed “Crazy Horse,” was a fiery shortstop known for his intensity, steady defense, and clutch hitting over a 16-year Major League career. He played a key role in the Pittsburgh Pirates’ 1979 World Series championship, batting .333 in the Fall Classic and providing leadership on the field.
He started his MLB career with the New York Mets, debuting on September 11, 1970, as a 19-year-old and was traded to the Montreal Expos in 1971.
