2005 Topps first year Justin Verlander rookie
Justin Verlander built a Hall of Fame career on power, longevity, and big moment dominance. Debuting in 2005 with the Detroit Tigers, he quickly became one of baseball’s premier pitchers, winning the 2006 AL Rookie of the Year and establishing himself as a workhorse with a blazing fastball and fierce competitiveness. His peak came in 2011 when he captured both the AL Cy Young Award and the AL MVP, a rare feat for a pitcher. Over nearly two decades he piled up more than 250 wins, multiple Cy Young Awards, thousands of strikeouts, and several no hitters while pitching for the Tigers, the Houston Astros, and later the New York Mets. Verlander also shined on the postseason stage, helping lead Houston to World Series success and cementing his legacy as one of the most dominant and durable pitchers of his era. Now he’s full circle back to finish his career with Detroit. Hope has a year for the ages.
