My son and I are lucky to personally know Zach and his family. Zach played baseball with my son growing up. We first got to know Zach in Little League and then they played together on 2 Middle School Championship Teams at Bull Run Middle School.
Zach was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 10th round of the 2022 MLB Draft (296th overall) out of East Carolina University where he was a breakout two-way player during his Junior and Senior seasons, starting full-time at Third Base and Pitching in relief.
He led ECU to two collegiate NCAA Regional Championships and was named Second-Team All-America by D1Baseball & Baseball America as a utility player.
His best season at ECU saw him hit .330 while making 21 relief appearances, went 3-0 with 3 saves, with a stellar 2.31 ERA over 23.1 innings, striking out 19, walking 6, and holding opponents to a .151 average.
