Gary was an undersized, feisty forward for the Vancouver Canucks for seven seasons. Not known for his scoring ability “Loopy” tallied five points in 10 postseason games for the first Canucks squad to reach the Stanley Cup Finals. He was the first person to fight Mario Lemieux in the National Hockey League. The much larger Lemieux easily won the fight and the Canuck goalie, John Garrett, intervened to help him earning a game misconduct as a result (third man in). Gary Lupul would have turned 67 today but passed away back in 2007 at the age of 48.
