Tiger Flowers, known as the “Georgia Deacon,” became the first African American to win the world middleweight championship in 1926, defeating Harry Greb in a historic bout. Renowned for his fast hands, southpaw style, and deep religious faith, Flowers paved the way for future Black champions before his life was tragically cut short later that same year.
