Cllct advising collectors... kosher?

Sports Memorabilia

CLLCT

Goldin

Shohei Ohtani

Was surprised to see this disclaimer at the top of the cllct article, saying they are advising the consigner of the 51st Ohtani baseball, which is now going to auction with Goldin.

I don't get how this can work. They cover Goldin (and every other auction house). Who is advising these clients? They say it's a separate unit but are we to believe Rovell isn't involved at all? And that there is no conflict of interest if Cllct writes about Goldin now? They won't treat Cllct differently? Cllct won't treat Goldin differently?

Not a journalist but I can't imagine ESPN or the New York Times allowing this to happen. Am I crazy?

Editor’s Note: Cllction advised the consignor in this auction. Cllction, an advisory service that manages collections, is a separate division of Memoramedia, which is the parent company of cllct.
