Manteland Card of The Day ⭐ Pirates Great
1994 Topps Archives 1954 Reprint #251 ⭐ Roberto Clemente, Brooklyn/Montreal Royals
On November 22, 1954, the Pittsburgh Pirates drafted outfielder Roberto Clemente from the AAA Montreal Royals in the 1954 Rule 5 Draft. Montreal was the AAA-farm club of the Brooklyn Dodgers, who tried to hide his immense talents there attempting to prevent him from being discovered and then losing him in the draft. The Dodgers played Clemente sparingly in Montreal and Roberto hit only .257 for the Royals that season.
Roberto Clemente became a legendary MLB Hall of Famer with the Pirates.
