Stan Musial is one of my favorite players that I never got to see in person.
Sometimes the very best cards come from the most unlikely places. I adore the colors of this card.

1964 Topps Stand Up #17, Roberto Clemente.
This is one of my favorite Roberto Clemente cards.
The 1964 Topps Stand-Ups were issued as a stand alone set of 77 cards (though some players appear twice, creating 55 unique subjects).

They came in five-cent wax packs with 5 cards per pack.

Because they were a separate test-style set and not part of the main 1964 Topps baseball issue, distribution was more limited than the flagship Topps set.

1935 Diamond Stars #83 Blue Back, Paul Waner.
Paul “Big Poison” Waner carved out a Hall of Fame career as one of the finest hitters of his era, starring for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1926 through the early 1940s. Known for his smooth swing and exceptional bat control, Waner collected over 3,100 hits, won three batting titles, and earned the 1927 National League MVP award while helping lead the Pirates to the World Series. Despite his modest size, he earned the nickname “Big Poison” in contrast to his brother Lloyd “Little Poison,” with both forming one of the greatest sibling duos in baseball history. His 1935 Diamond Stars #83 card, captures Waner in his prime but also stands out as one of the more colorful and art-deco–styled cards of the prewar era.

1957 Topps #328, Brooks Robinson RC.
Brooks Robinson was my favorite infielder growing up.
Known as “The Human Vacuum Cleaner,” he built his legendary career with the Baltimore Orioles through unmatched defensive brilliance at third base, winning 16 Gold Gloves. He was also a clutch hitter, earning the 1964 AL MVP and shining brightest in the 1970 World Series, where his remarkable plays earned him Series MVP honors. Gritty, durable, and respected, Robinson spent 23 seasons with the Orioles, embodying loyalty and excellence while cementing his place as one of the greatest third basemen in baseball history.

1941 Play Ball #71, Joe DiMaggio. This is the best looking card in my collection that is in a "1" holder. Joe's 1941 Play Ball card is often cited as the most desirable of all his playing days cards.
The Legend...himself! Joltin' Joe. The Yankee Clipper. Mr. Coffee.
Joe DiMaggio became an American sports icon through his graceful play, nine World Series championships, and his unmatched 56-game hitting streak that still stands as one of baseball’s greatest records. Beyond the diamond, he served his country honorably during World War II, sacrificing three prime years of his career. His marriage to Marilyn Monroe added to his mystique, making him a figure of both sports and cultural legend. Throughout his life, DiMaggio embodied dignity, consistency, and quiet excellence, leaving a lasting legacy as one of baseball’s most admired figures.
After baseball, Joe continued to be a pop icon as the spokesperson for Mr. Coffee and a main character in the popular Simon & Garfunkel song, "Mrs. Robinson". 🎵
