Manteland Card of The Day ⭐
2004 Leaf Ltd Lumberjacks, #14/25 ⭐ Lou Gehrig, The Iron Horse
I'm not a Yankees fan, per se.
Lou Gehrig is a baseball legend known for his great strength, his long streak of playing in games, and his sad illness.
He played for the New York Yankees and earned the nickname "The Iron Horse" because he played in 2,130 games in a row.
He gave a famous speech in 1939 where he told the crowd he was "the luckiest man on the face of the earth" after he had to stop playing due to ALS, a disease that is now often called Lou Gehrig's disease.
He won 2 A.L. MVP Awards and won 6 World Series titles with the Yankees.
