Bob Gibson, the Pitcher who made Major League Baseball change the Pitcher’s Mound because he was too dominant. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Gibson at the 1992 National in Chicago. As I was getting his autograph I mentioned that I had just seen him in the All-Star Old Timers game and he made Reggie Jackson dive to the dirt. Bob Gibson then pointed out that Reggie didn’t charge the mound and I said that’s because you would have thrown inside again. Mr. Gibson just burst into laughter. I was told by others that Mr. Gibson did not laugh much.
