Why you should always do your own research when looking at auction listings:

In May, @jake and I made our first game-worn jersey purchase.

It was a Cam Payne jersey buried in a Sotheby's auction.

The lot description said it came from Game 1 of the first round of the playoffs against the Pistons, but that was it.

No mention of the fact that Payne was the spark behind the Knicks victory, dropping 11 points in the 4th quarter to lift the team to a come-from-behind victory.

We paid $381.
