1984 Topps Dale Murphy
1984 Topps #150, Dale Murphy.
1984 Topps #391, Dale Murphy All-Star.
I really like the 1984 Topps design.
At some point, I think Dale Murphy will be enshrined in Cooperstown.
He was one of the most feared hitters of the 1980s, winning back-to-back National League MVPs (1982 and 1983), five Gold Gloves, and four Silver Sluggers. However, his prime lasted roughly from 1980 to 1987. After that, his offensive production dropped off quickly, leaving him with just over 2,100 hits and 398 home runs—short of traditional "automatic" Hall of Fame benchmarks like 3,000 hits or 500 homers.
