This is one of the sillier things I've purchased recently (which is saying something). But my MIL is a massive JFK fan- massive. She's not a collector by the traditional definition, but has a bunch of JFK books and magazine covers, etc that she's kept from over the years.
JG Limited had a JFK auction and I bid on a handful of things, thinking they'd be perfect Christmas presents for her, especially since she'd never buy any of it for herself.
Won two lots- an original silver gelatin photo of JFK that I scored for $25, and then a .75 x .5 inch swatch of JFK's cashmere sweater, encapsulated by CAG, which didn't cost $25... (and I spaced on the 25% buyer's premium when the extended bidding window opened and I got competitive).
It's super silly- the swatch is the size of a dang bottle cap- but I know my mother-in-law will be really excited to own something that JFK himself actually touched and wore. She's going to freak.
So I guess, in that regard, it's not silly at all.
