Red Schoendienst is widely regarded as both a great baseball player on the field and a man of exceptional integrity and character off it.
On the field, Red was one of the finest second basemen of his era and a cornerstone of the St. Louis Cardinals for nearly two decades. He was a 10 x All-Star and helped lead the Cardinals to World Series championships in 1946 and 1964. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989.
Off the field, Red spent more than 60 years working in the Cardinal’s organization and his reputation for integrity, humility, and loyalty was unanimous in baseball circles.
