1952 Topps #261, Willie Mays ⭐ MLB Pioneer
Willie Mays had natural physical gifts and skills that made him a legendary Hall of Famer.
He started his professional baseball career at age 16, playing for the Birmingham Black Barons in the Negro League. After graduating from high school, he signed with the NY Giants, in 1950.

1952 Topps #357, Smoky Burgess ⭐
This is a card I love. Smoky Burgess was a true 'ladies man'.❤
Nearly forgotten today, Smoky was one of the most accomplished catchers and pinch hitters in MLB history.
Perhaps not HOF numbers, but he played MLB for 18 years (1949–1967).

He was a great hitter finishing with a .295 career BA, Including 1,318 hits, 126 HRs, and 673 RBIs.
One of the best pinch hitters in MLB history, he retired with then-record numbers of 500 pinch-hit at-bats and 145 pinch hits. These marks were MLB records when he retired, since broken.

1952 Topps #282, Birdie Tebbetts ⭐
Here's a player and a card you don't see very often, if ever.
Born Norman Colbert Tebbetts, “Birdie” was a childhood nickname that never went away.
As a child, he was small, quick, and constantly chirping, which led family members to call him “Birdie" and it followed him all the way through professional baseball.
Birdie spent 23 years in MLB as a catcher and manager, retiring in 1958.

Continuing to celebrate Black History Month with a post of this rookie card of a great Hall of Famer.
Minnie Miñoso, known as the "Cuban Comet," is renowned as the first Latin-American star in MLB and the color barrier breaker for the Chicago White Sox in 1951.
Orestes was a 9-time All-Star & 3-time Gold Glove winner, he is celebrated for his incredible speed, power, and durability, playing in seven different decades.
Several MLB rookie cards were produced for Minnie Minoso, by several mainstream card makers including Topps, Bowman, Red Man, etc.
