1936 R312 Connie Mack & Lefty Grove. ⭐
This card is scarcely seen and seldom talked about in the hobby in spite of featuring two legendary Hall of Famers.
Connie Mack and Lefty Grove’s time together with the Philadelphia Athletics in the late 1920s and early 1930s produced one of the most dominant stretches in baseball history. Mack, the legendary manager and master talent evaluator, acquired Grove from the minor leagues in 1925 and carefully developed him into the era’s most feared left-handed pitcher. Grove’s overpowering fastball and competitive fire anchored the A’s pitching staff during their American League pennant runs from 1929 to 1931, culminating in back-to-back World Series titles in 1929 and 1930 and a narrow loss in 1931.
