Major Taylor, like Jackie Robinson, broke barriers in a segregated world of sports. While Robinson made history in baseball, Taylor dominated cycling in the late 1800s, becoming the first african american world champion in his sport. Yet, despite his accomplishments, Taylor remains relatively unknown today.
He only has 4 true trading cards—2 Felix Potins and 2 Ogdens—compared to countless cards for Robinson.
Most of Taylor’s images are foreign-issued postcards, mainly from France, even though he was American. His legacy deserves more recognition, both in sports history and in the collectible world. This is my 3rd postcard (although he has over 20). Should be my 4th but one was stolen by a scammer (a story for another day)
