Penny Sleeves could mess up your cards in the long run
Sad to write this. I got a lot of Elvis cards today. As you see, the card is bent. It was not like that when I bought it. Here’s the story. I got these cards at a local antique store today. The cards were in brown top loaders, and had probably been in the top loaders since they were pulled. When I got home, I tried to take them out of the top loaders and penny sleeves to put them into my binder. When I tired to take the card out of the penny sleeves, and it bent the card. This was one of my favorite cards in the lot, sad to see this happen. It was like this with every card. So much so that I had to get a butter knife to be able to get the cards out of the penny sleeve. Are penny sleeves bad for your cards? No, unless the cards are left inside for a long time like this. Here are some ways to prevent your cards from taking damage like this.
Take your cards out of the penny sleeve ever so often to “breathe.” This will give your card a brake from the penny sleeve, so the sleeve can’t stick to the card.
Change the penny sleeve and cards out ever so often. This way, the penny sleeve can’t stick to your cards longer term.
You can’t go wrong with slabs and one touches.
Put your cards in binders without penny sleeves.
Thanks for your time. Has a penny sleeves ever messed up one of your cards, let me know your story in the comments. Also, any tips to fix this card would be great! God bless.
