Thinking back to unlikely Denver Broncos playoff wins, in 2012 Tim Tebow led the 8-8 Broncos, who barely snuck into the playoffs, to a 29-23 over time win over the Steelers when, on the first play of overtime Tebow hit star receiver Demaryius Thomas (RIP) on a 80-yard sudden death touchdown.

Of course, the Broncos were subsequently squashed by no one other than the New England Patriots the following week, 45-10.

Back in 2010 I pulled this Tebow rookie auto (/25) from a Hobby box of Topps Magic. It remains the “best” pull I’ve ever had out of a pack or box, and at the time I graded it with BGS and received a mint 9.5/10. I wasn’t much of an Tebow believer even back then and sold the card for a respectable $550 at the time.

Anywho, I still think fondly back to that game, and this card, and the crazy phenomenon of an NFL QB who frankly wasn’t a very good NFL QB, and the ride we went on back then in Broncos Country.

So with a backup QB starting the AFC championship game for the Broncos, vs New England, I can only sit back and allow myself to enjoy the game yet with not very high expectations, much like I did on that fateful playoff day in 2012.
