Thinking back to unlikely Denver Broncos playoff wins, in 2012 Tim Tebow led the 8-8 Broncos, who barely snuck into the playoffs, to a 29-23 over time win over the Steelers when, on the first play of overtime Tebow hit star receiver Demaryius Thomas (RIP) on a 80-yard sudden death touchdown.

Of course, the Broncos were subsequently squashed by no one other than the New England Patriots the following week, 45-10.

Back in 2010 I pulled this Tebow rookie auto (/25) from a Hobby box of Topps Magic. It remains the “best” pull I’ve ever had out of a pack or box, and at the time I graded it with BGS and received a mint 9.5/10. I wasn’t much of an Tebow believer even back then and sold the card for a respectable $550 at the time.

Anywho, I still think fondly back to that game, and this card, and the crazy phenomenon of an NFL QB who frankly wasn’t a very good NFL QB, and the ride we went on back then in Broncos Country.

So with a backup QB starting the AFC championship game for the Broncos, vs New England, I can only sit back and allow myself to enjoy the game yet with not very high expectations, much like I did on that fateful playoff day in 2012. That said, go Jarrett Stidham (I don’t have any of his cards lolol) and 🔷🔶GO BRONCOS🔶🔷

Tilikum (c. December 1981 – 6 January 2017) was a captive male orca who spent most of his life at SeaWorld Orlando in Florida. He was captured in Iceland in 1983; about a year later, he was transferred to Sealand of the Pacific near Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. He was subsequently transferred in 1992 to SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida, where he sired 21 calves throughout his life.

Tilikum was heavily featured in CNN Films’ 2013 documentary Blackfish, which claims that orcas in captivity suffer psychological damage and become unnaturally aggressive.

While orca attacks on humans in the wild are rare, and no fatal attacks have been recorded, as of 2025 four humans have died due to interactions with captive orcas. Tilikum was involved in three of those four deaths.

One of my favorite PCs and looking to add more. Back in ‘04 I got to play “astronaut for a day” at Kennedy Space Center in FL. Included was an intimate hour-long lunch with Apollo 15 command module pilot, Col. Alfred Worden. Boy howdy he had some things to say about the modern bureaucracy of NASA. The man was royalty there and said exactly how he felt, much to the chagrin of his staff handler. After lunch, he took the time to chat with each of us individually for a few minutes and sign autographs. I’ve never been in the company of a more interesting human. RIP “Al” (as he politely asked us to call him) (1932-2020).
