This is a sneaky good and very collectible Sports Illustrated issue from June 15, 1970. The 1st cover appearance from Steve Prefontaine. Steve set American records at every distance from 2,000 to 10,000 meters in the early 70’s. He was preparing for the 1976 Olympics when he was killed in a car accident at the age of 24.

What makes Prefontaine and this issue collectible is that he was the very first athlete ever signed by Nike. I’m cleaning and pressing this issue for a customer. Look at how this ring magically disappears!
