This little beauty is a black jeweled orchid. Jeweled orchids are one of the few varieties of terrestrial orchid. What that means is they grow in the ground and need soil. The majority of orchids sold do not actually need soil, they survive in trees as an air plant. The jeweled orchid is usually purchased for its unique and beautiful foliage. Their flowers are small and pretty, but rather complain when compared to arial orchids.
