The attendance of 110,000 in the final still stands as the largest attended women's sporting event. Sadly, FIFA not only did not approve of the event, but fought against it all the way. Only 20 years later in 1991, did FIFA present the first "official" Women's World Cup. The tickets are from the quarterfinal games where Denmark beat Argentina 5-0, and Mexico beat Italy in a drama filled game with a score of 2-1. Denmark then beat Mexico in the final 3-0. I highly recommend the documentary/movie. Women's soccer is coming in a form of a Tsunami wave. I volunteered to be a moderator for a women's soccer collectibles group on Mantel this morning. Would be fantastic if more people here would throw their name in the hat as an option for starting the group. Let us have these 1971 footballers inspire us to start something great here on Mantel.
