Mr. Cub is the nickname bestowed on the beloved Ernie Banks.
He spent his entire 19-year MLB career with the Chicago Cubs winning two N.L. MVPs, 14 All-Star nods, and swatting his way into the 500 HR Club, finishing with 512 dingers.
Before his glory days with the Cubs, Ernie played in the Negro League with the KC Monarchs, then served 2 years in the U.S. Army, then returned to the KC Monarchs.
In 2013, Banks was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Barack Obama.
