Why would you grade a card?
Monologue coming at you but it basically sums up why Iām starting this pollā¦
Iāll be honest hereā¦before recent weeks my history of collecting cards goes back to the 90s when I was a kid playing little league and collecting Griffey, Jordan, Kobe, etc. While I appreciated my cards making sure to use penny sleeves on my favorites, grading wasnāt even an option being of single digit age, let alone my extra money was going to video games if not card packs, and I simply didnāt care about grading.
Today, Iām starting back up collecting and still up to the same system I had as a kid. Buying cards like how I would buy a bottle of wine. Besides my favorite players, I hunt for cards that look amazing and admire them for their artistry and design. While hunting for specific player cards of a series that I love (Inception, Chrome Black, etc) Iāve noticed the insane price differences for a PSA 9 vs someone else selling the same exact card in MINT condition from what I can see in the photos.
So if youāve made it this far in my post, my question for all if you is:
āWhy do you get your card(s) graded?ā
If you answer other, please comment and elaborate. Iām really curious to know othersā viewpoints.
