1947-66 Exhibits, Jackie Robinson ⭐ American Hero & MLB Icon
This is a cornerstone card of the hobby, IMO.
The nostalgia associated with this tremendous black and white image of Jackie Robinson embodies everything great in a baseball card.
Robinson's card captures him mid-stride rounding a base with dynamic abandon.
The "Hidden" Uniform Secret: Though he is universally celebrated as a Brooklyn Dodgers legend, the photograph used for this card actually captures him playing against the Dodgers during a 1946 Spring Training game while he was a member of the Montreal Royals.
The Kicker: This is Exhibit Supply Company's first run of Jackie Robinson cards - issued in 1948.
The Exhibit Supply Company did not print a Jackie Robinson card in 1947; the earliest editions featuring him actually debuted in 1948.
Because the Exhibit Supply Company used the same design for nearly two decades, collectors date specific print runs by the font styling at the bottom.
This particular card features a "MADE IN U.S.A." tagline measuring 5/8" across, confirming it was printed early in the run in 1948—right at the dawn of his historic Major League career.
Good Luck trying to find one of these, especially in a PSA 4 holder.
I bought this one raw and submitted it to PSA myself.
