On August 22, 1912, a sellout crowd of 27,000 at Forbes Field, saw the Pirates sweep two from the Giants, winning 3 – 2 and 8 – 6. Howie Camnitz outpitched Christy Mathewson in the opener, and Rube Marquard was the losing pitcher in the nightcap. The Bucs were led by Honus Wagner who went 3 for 4 in the first game, and then hit for the cycle in the 2nd game. For the day, Wagner had seven hits, 14 total bases, scored five runs, four RBIs, and stole two bases.
