2024 Topps Update #46, 1989 Topps ⭐ Paul Skenes
Throwback to 1989 Topps design - I love the clean & colorful look.
The 1989 design marked a few firsts in the hobby.
The design featured a white border with a team name in a colored ribbon-style banner and the player’s name printed in a smaller box, giving it a bright, accessible look compared to the busier mid-1980s sets. It was also the first regular Topps set printed entirely at Topps’ new facility in Duryea, Pennsylvania, marking the beginning of the modern production era for the company.
The 1989 Topps set was produced at the height of "junk wax" so there is minimal monetary value, but there is much nostalgic value in this set especially for fans who grew up in the late 80's.
Notable highlights include, but are not limited to rookie cards of Randy Johnson, John Smoltz, Craig Biggio, and Gary Sheffield.
