Alana Beard is a former professional basketball player and Women's Basketball Hall of Fame inductee. In college, she played for Duke, where she was named ACC Female Athlete of the Year in 2003 and 2004. The Washington Mystics drafted her second overall in the 2004 WNBA draft. In 2012, she signed with the Los Angeles Sparks, playing a key role in their 2016 WNBA championship win. Beard won Defensive Player of the Year in 2017 and 2018.
