1989 was probably Bo’s best year in baseball with 32 home runs, 105 RBI, 26 stolen bases and a memorable All-Star game MVP performance. This photo looks like he’s about to crush a ball into the next time zone.
This was the first Bowman set produced since 1955. I was excited as new sets didn’t come out every year like they do now. It was cool how the size and look was consistent with the older sets, but man was it frustrating fitting them in a top loader or in a standard box.
I must have bought just about any kind of pack with my paper route money. Cards that are standard size now drive me crazy. Looking at it now makes me think they borrowed from 1956 Topps design.
