Series 1995 US $2 “Millennium” note

My other $2 acquisition yesterday.

In anticipation of the new millennium, all $2 notes were reprinted for the first time since 1976, under all 12 banks (A-L) in the serial number range 20000001-20009999 (9,999 notes all starting serials with 2000).

I’m not certain if they all came in the special commemorative collector’s folder (not shown) or if they went into circulation and only some sold that way. This one without the folder.

Bottom line: each bank only had a run of 9,999 notes which is a VERY short run. This one’s my first, hoping to get one from each bank.

FYI they did print bills for general circulation, but all on the F Atlanta bank. Those serials started at 00000001 and came in three runs of 512K, 128K and 640K notes.

Had to get this one! Super clean at an honest price.

Star notes were printed in advance to swap in for print errors in the regular runs. I can walk out of a bank with 1000 $1 notes pretty much any day of the week and pull 5 star notes out of it. $2 notes much less common, and typically have to be ordered at the bank.

A note like this forget about finding in circulation at this point... gotta drop coin to get one.
