Thought I'd start posting some of my sold notes to give people a sense of what's out there and values. I get a certain thrill from finding notes in the wild, recognizing their value and flipping them for a healthy return.
I sell several notes a week on eBay. Most of the notes I sell go for only a few bucks . (I've got a few recent ones I'll post that are more.) So while it's a thrill to get a 3x return just for keeping a sharp eye out on the cash flow, on a $1 note that's a grand total of $3 earned. It's not going to pay for retirement, but I get a kick out of it.
This one's an odd duck. The sum of all the serial number digits is 68 . Best you can do on a modern note is 89999999 with a sum of 71 and that one is going to sell for huge money because it's seven digits. This one's fun too because it's only three numbers used in the serial ("trinary"), they are 7,8,9 so "ladder"-like and for good measure begins and ends with "F" (the first one is the bank, the second is the print block). High sum notes are a bit of a niche, not nearly as popular as low sum notes (same idea, but low sum of all the digits).
