1964 Topps Giants Baseball Card Set ⭐
Arguably Topps best photography across a set.
I've only built 2 complete baseball card sets, this is the second.
My set, picture below, contains 12 x PSA 9 and 48 x PSA 8 cards.
The 1964 Topps Giants Complete Set contains 60 over-sized cards, each measuring 3 1/8" by 5 1/4". The fronts of each card contain a color photograph of the player, as well as a baseball near the bottom of the card with his name, team and position. The backs of each card use a newspaper format to provide biographical information, as well as another black and white action shot. 1964 Topps Giants cards originally sold in 3 card packs, with a stick of gum, for a nickel.
Topps designed this set with fairness in mind, as there are three players from each team. While that may sound like a good idea, to produce 3 cards for players from the Colt 45s and Senators, meant that some major stars were omitted. So instead of Eddie Mathews, Pete Rose and Willie McCovey, the 1964 Topps Giants Set went with Ken Johnson, Dave Wickersham and Galen Cisco. Still, with over one-third of players (22) enshrined in the Hall-of-Fame, the 1964 Topps Giants is a great baseball card set to build.
The set has 7 very tough to find short print cards: #3 Sandy Koufax, #28 Bob Friend, #42 Dick Stuart, #45 Wayne Causey, #47 Galen Cisco, #51 Willie Mays and #60 Bill Skowron. Other high dollar cards in the 1964 Topps Giants Set are: #11 Roberto Clemente, #18 Jim Fregosi, #21 Elston Howard, #25 Mickey Mantle, #49 Hank Aaron and #57 Ken Boyer (w/o qualifiers).
