💎 Marie-Philip Poulin (Rookie Card) - 2009-10 Upper Deck Canadian Heroes

Post image 1
Post image 2

💡 CARD BACKSTORY
----------
Bought the 🐐's rookie card for $12.25 on Check Out My Cards (COMC) and submitted it directly to PSA through the platform.

Based on the picture of the card before grading, I was hoping for a 7 or 8. 9 def exceeded my expectations! Could not have asked for more out of my first-ever grading submission.

👀 DID YOU NOTICE?
----------
So weird to see Poulin wearing the #10! (I've only ever seen her wearing #29)

🔎 BACK OF CARD
----------
"Poulin was named the top forward at the Under-18 Women's World Championships in 2008, finishing with eight goals and 14 points as Canada won silver medals in Calgary."

Why I Started Collecting Women’s Hockey Cards

My fascination with hockey started in 1989. In 1990, I ripped open my first pack likely from the overproduced but nostalgically perfect 1990-91 Pro Set Hockey offering.

📰 Hope you enjoy my latest article detailing my adventure into women's hockey cards!

"On May 14, 2023, I published my first @womenshockeycards post on Instagram. The post featured a picture of an autographed 1992 Classic Manon Rheaume card that Rheaume had sent me as a thank you for promoting her children’s book, ‘Breaking the Ice: The True Story of the First Woman to Play in the National Hockey League.’

At the time, it was the only women’s card in my collection. It was then that I realized I had thrown myself into the deep end of the pool without really knowing how to swim."

Noora Räty (/24, Game Used Jersey) - 2021-22 Sereal Cards Part of the Game, Game Used

Post image 1

Hard to track down cards of Raty. This one is in my top-3 fav cards in my collection. Recently sent it to be PSA graded. Fully expect Raty to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame when she becomes eligible.

"Regarded as one of the best goaltenders in the World, Räty represented Finland in four Olympic Games and nine IIHF World Championships, winning two Olympic bronze medals and five IIHF medals (one silver and four bronze).

At the Olympics, she was named an All-Star once and at the World Championships, she won the Best Goaltender Award five times, was named to the All-Star team four times and earned MVP honors once.

Räty was a three-time champion while playing in Russia (Russian Women's Hockey League / Zhenskaya Hockey League) and was named the Goaltender of the Year in the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL).

During her collegiate career at the University of Minnesota, Räty was a two-time All-American and won two NCAA Hockey Tournament Championships. She owns the NCAA record for winning percentage in a season (1.000, 38-0, 2013)."

💡 ABOUT KIM ST-PIERRE'S ROOKIE CARD
--------------
"This single card was issued as a promotional premium with the purchase of a set of Bridgestone Blizzak tires in the province of Quebec during the winter of 2001-02.
The card features a photo of Canadian National Women's team goalie St-Pierre wearing a Bridgestone jersey on the front, and features personal and statistical data on the back in French.
It is believed that 2,000 of these cards were produced, but less than 500 were actually given out in the promotion." (Source: Beckett)
