Hey, this is Denny from Instagram and YouTube (denny_cards) and I am SO EXCITED to help get a basketball cards centric group going here on Mantel. I know I am in various areas of The Hobby, but my time, energy, interest, and of course collection, always go back to BASKETBALL CARDS.
It is the MOST egalitarian of all sports (equal to soccer), because all you need is a ball and a hoop. You don't need special equipment and accessories and permits to play at any time.
If you have ever played pick up ball, you know that you can have instant chemistry with complete strangers on the court.
That is the BEAUTY and MAGIC of basketball, and that is why I absolutely LOVE this game and always will. ❤
I have been a collector of basketball cards since the early 90's and my favorite player to collect was Michael Jordan (like almost everyone else in the 90's even if you hated the Bulls haha). Back then, social media did not exist and so the entirety of my card community was my neighborhood friends and reading Beckett magazine.
I also collected from 2007 to 2012 when I was a young adult and went after my Florida Gators (Al Horford, Joakim Noah, Corey Brewer), and by extension, Kevin Durant (who is from the DMV area where I currently am from). Back then, social media was not what it is today and the online community for cards were only in blogs and forums, nothing like now, and that is why I am so excited for this group.

This is a community for enthusiasts to share and discuss collectibles. Keep conversations related to the group's focus. Be respectful of others. Harassment, threats, trolling, or discriminatory language of any kind will not be tolerated and may result in an immediate ban. Civil disagreements are allowed, but keep discussions constructive and respectful.
2. External Sales or Self-Promotion
Direct links to eBay, other sales platforms, or personal websites are not allowed unless explicitly permitted in certain channels.
Self-promotion (YouTube, Instagram, podcasts, etc.) should be limited. Excessive self-promotion will result in warnings or removal.
3. Sales and Trading Guidelines
All 'For Sale' posts must include clear pricing, item images, and, if applicable, proof of ownership (e.g., coining - a photo with a username and date).
Clearly state your desired trade terms in 'For Trade' posts. Indicate what you’re looking for in return. The group is not responsible for incomplete trades or sales. Use safe payment methods (e.g., PayPal Goods & Services) to protect yourself.
Use designated channels for sales, trades, and giveaways. Repeated violations may result in a ban.
4. No Spam or Low-Effort Posts
Avoid posting repetitive or low-effort content, such as asking for price checks without prior research. Use resources like eBay completed listings or online price guides first. No countdown posts, repeated promotions, or excessive bumping of threads.
5. Handling Disputes and Reporting Issues
Report scammers, suspicious activity, or rule violations to the moderators. Do not post call-out threads or publicly accuse members.
Moderators are here to help—message them if you have suggestions or concerns. Do not message all mods unless it’s an emergency.
6. No NSFW or Offensive Content
This group is for collectors of all ages. Posting NSFW (Not Safe for Work) content, offensive images, or malicious links will result in an instant ban.
7. Group-Specific Event Guidelines
If you want to host an event like an auction, fire sale, or giveaway, please seek moderator approval.
8. No Unauthorized Advertising
Do not advertise other groups, Discord servers, or communities without explicit permission from moderators.
9. General Conduct and Community Spirit
