Collectors MD x Nothing's Off The Table
A few years ago, I never could have imagined having conversations like this, let alone sharing my experiences so openly with others.
I'm incredibly grateful to Louis Ruggiero Jr. for inviting me onto Nothing's Off The Table for an honest conversation about gambling addiction, compulsive collecting, recovery, and the journey that ultimately led me to founding Collectors MD.
We discussed some of the darkest moments of my life, the devastating consequences of chasing losses, the impact addiction had on my relationships and financial stability, and the importance of finding the right support.
We also explored the complicated relationship between gambling and collecting, how certain experiences within the modern hobby can reinforce compulsive behaviors, and why education, awareness, and healthier boundaries are so important.
One of the most meaningful parts of recovery for me has been the opportunity to turn those experiences into something positive. What began as a personal journey has evolved into a community dedicated to helping others recognize harmful patterns, feel less alone, and find the support they deserve.
I share my story because I know how isolating addiction can be, especially when you're struggling with something you don't fully understand or feel ashamed to acknowledge.
If this conversation helps even one person recognize what they're going through, feel less alone, or take that first step toward recovery, then it's served a purpose far greater than simply sharing my own vulnerable experiences publicly.
A huge thank-you to LJ for creating a space where these conversations can happen openly and without judgment. I also want to recognize Rob Sackowitz and Right Choice Recovery for the role they've played in my journey and for continuing to help others find a way forward.
Recovery is possible. And no matter how far things have gone, it's never too late to ask for help.
