The first Tongan to play in the National Football League, Vai led the league in punt return yardage in each of his first two seasons (522 yards in 1986 and 550 in 1987) and in punt returns for touchdowns (2) in 1986. An amateur youth boxer he celebrated touchdowns later in his career while with the Philadelphia Eagles by “boxing” the goal post. In his post playing days he beat Jose Canseco in a celebrity boxing match, donating his winnings to a Philadelphia area charity. Vai Sikahema turns 64 today.
