I get as far as ‘grails’ go, a $30 card of someone who never played a second of ball wont qualify for most.

But believe me when I say this pickup has me more excited than anything else I’ve grabbed in a while.

This is from the 1991 Starline Hollywood Walk of Fame set, and it’s a signed Chick Hearn, otherwise known as The Voice of the Lakers (from 1961-2002!!). If you watch any old footage of Magic or Kareem or even the early years of Shaq and Kobe, it was Chick on the mic.

He coined alley-oop and dribble drive. He was the inventor of ‘No harm, no foul’!!! And he ended Lakers wins by saying the game was ‘in the refrigerator… the eggs are cooling, the jello’s jiggling’.

He helped me fall in love with sports and made me want to be a broadcaster myself.

He didn’t have many cards and finding an auto, 23 years after his passing, isn’t easy, so I’m Really stoked to add this to my Sports Journalist PC.
