Bill Walton’s second appearance on the cover of Sports Illustrated on this day in 1972. The sophomore Walton led UCLA to their sixth straight NCAA title, putting up 54 points and 41 rebounds in the Bruins’ two Final Four games. He was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
